In late summer of 1998, just after having left my position as lead singer for the legendary punk band known as the Misfits, I began writing an autobiography about my career as an independent musician, entitled: King Of An Empire To The Shoes Of A Misfit – The Memoirs Of Myke Hideous.
It took one year to write the original manuscript for my book, researching and gathering data from the personal journals I kept throughout my life. I dedicated another year to editing and re-writing the book, based on the corrections, revisions, and improvements suggested by my editor Chris Uhl. I spent a third year searching for a publisher to release it.
King Of An Empire To The Shoes Of A Misfit is my story on what it takes to be an independent musician in the underground music world. It exposes portions of my life from the time I created my own band, The Empire Hideous (1988), and everything that occurred from that point forward, leading up to my short term position as the lead singer and front man for the Misfits.
On December 8th, 2005, after having sold several thousand books, I instructed the publisher to stop printing all copies, ultimately rendering the book unavailable to the public for nearly a decade. Then, at the beginning of 2014, I made the decision to re-release King Of An Empire To The Shoes Of A Misfit as a Second Edition print. Existing contents of the book were re-edited, as well as a new chapter being added for a new ending. After six months of editing and revisions, the book was re-released until all copies were sold.
Finally, the Third Version of King Of An Empire To The Shoes Of A Misfit is available for purchase exclusively on the Myke Hideous website, while supplies last! This final edition of the book will be available as a soft cover paperback, featuring new cover art, new/additional photographs, & entirely re-edited chapters. It will not be available as an electronic/Kindle version. It will only be available for purchase through MykeHideous.com.
